Description: | Dinner Bell made from a German shell created by a prisoner of war. Belonged to Julian Sharman.;;Julian Sharman served in the Boer War with an English Regiment, the Artists' Rifles. After the war Sharman farmed, raising Jersey cattle, one of which was the awarding-winning Rosalind of Old Basing.;;He was commissioned as a Lieutenant on May 15, 1916 and went overseas with the 187th Central Alberta Battalion. Subsequently, at the breakup of the Battalion, he was transferred to the 21st Reserve Battalion from which he was posted to the 37th Company of Canadian Forestry Corps, with which he served until he was demobilized on October 4, 1919. |
