Description : Sepia toned postcard of 8 men standing on the front of the "Weenusk", a boat. In the background is the N.A.R. bridge that goes over the Peace River in the town of Peace River. An arrow in blue ink pointed downward is drawn above the 5th man from the left, who is identified as Bert George. A similar arrow and identification are drawn above the last man, identified as George Garner.
Commentaires : The Hudson's Bay Company commissioned a motor tug boat with two barges to be used in freighting on the Peace River. This boat, The Weenusk was put on the water in May of 1921 under Captain C.C. Smith. This boat operated until about 1940 when it was replaced by The Weenusk II, which was a steel tug boat (Where Go The Boats). This donation of postcards and photographs was donated by Ernie Skip, who acquired them from a Mrs. MacRae, thought to be Pearl MacRae. Pearl Hazzard married Wilson MacRae and they had an adopted daughter, Greta MacRae, now Greta Picard (2010). Wilson was the post master in Peace River. It is thought to be Pearl MacRae because she lived only a few doors down from Mr. Skip, one of the postcards has the name Pearl on it, and the dates of the photographs coincide with the times that Wilson and Pearl would have been in Peace River.
