Description : | Sports coat, men's, Made by Rice Sportswear, Winnipeg, Manitoba.;;This coat combines two Canadian winter coat traditions. One is the capote, a blanket coat made with trade blankets, favoured by voyageurs and fur traders. The other is the Mackinaw, a jacket made in a pinch for the men of Captain Charles Robert's regiment when they prepared to attack Fort Mackinaw during the 1812 war. The coloured wool with the black stripe and thin line are reminiscent of trade blankets, while the double-breasted closing, notched lapels, and large pockets are traits of the Mackinaw. |
