Description : | This is a black and white photograph of Collin's Cove located on the Burin Peninsula. The photograph was taken after the destructive force of the 1929 tidal wave affected the area. It shows a wooden building that has toppled into the water. Near the building there is a large collection of logs which have piled together near a wharf. A man is visible walking across the logs, probably attempting to clean up. There are two other buildings partially visible in the photo but it is not clear if those buildings have suffered any amount of damage. |
Commentaires : | On November 18, 1929 a series of tidal waves hit the Burin Peninsula of Newfoundland. The area was devastated - provisions, gear, buildings and supplies were lost. Most devastating was the loss of 7 lives from the tidal waves. |
