| Description : | This is a black and white photograph which shows a large portion of rock that was torn from a cliff by the tidal wave. |
| Commentaires : | The scene that is depicted in the photograph was described by a survivor of the disaster. "There was a weird ominous roar: At first the water in Burin Harbor receded. Then the waters rushed in and rose to a great height. The sea gouged a channel 4 feet deep out of the solid rock, tearing loose huge blocks of stone from the cliff. |
