Description : | This is a black and white photograph of 2 boats that are on dry dock on the wharf of a harbor. The larger boat is the SS Argle. (Captain F.S. Whelan) The SS Argle has two masts that extend vertically upward from the deck of the boat. In the middle of the two masts is the square structure that houses the bridge of the vessel. The body of the vessel appears to be painted entirely in one dark color. This picture is significant because this boat was involved in the rescue effort after the 1929 tidal wave. |
