| Description : | The snowshoes pictured here have a wooden frame, as well as two horizontal pieces of wood for added strength. The body of the snowshoes is made up of twine, and a long thin strip of canvas has been attached to each so they can be tied to a person's feet. |
| Commentaires : | These snow shoes were owned by various members of the Sullivan family of Calvert. Each owner had passed them on without using them, as each person already had a pair and decided that these ones were too good to use, and should be kept until the ones they already owned wore out. The snow shoes were always passed on before the old pair wore out however, so this pair has never been used. |
| Fonctions : | These snowshoes were never used, despite having been circulated and owned by many owners from Calvert, Newfoundland. Each owner already had a pair of snowshoes, and decided that these snowshoes were "too good" to use until their old ones had worn out. Their old pairs of snowshoes never seemed to wear out to the point of warranting use of this new pair of snowshoes, and subsequently these snowshoes were never worn. |
