Narrative: This fire extinguisher uses a soda-acid classification of extinguishing fires. This means that the extinguisher uses the reaction between sulfuric acid and bicarbonate of soda combining it with pressurized water to form carbon dioxide. The solution would then be pressurized and forced out of the extinguisher to douse the flames. This was one of the earliest forms of extinguishers, invented and patented in the United States in 1866.
