The book contains pages made of very thin paper and includes a full transcription of the New Testament. The first page lists the publication information and has a message from the British Foreign Bible Society in Canada that reads "Translated out of the original Greek and with the former translation diligently compared and revised by His Majesty's special command. Appointed to be read in churches." The title page also displays the crest of the Bible Society. |
Commentaires : | The British Foreign Bible Society was established in 1804 by a number of Christians who worked to ensure that Welsh Christians had access to bibles in their native tongue. They were inspired to start the organization when they heard of a young Welsh woman who saved for six years and walked 25 miles barefoot to purchase a copy of a Welsh bible. The organization grew in scope and dedicated themselves to ensuring people around the world had access to the bible in their own language. The organization was non-denominational and non-sectarian and is still in existence today operating in a number of countries. This New Testament was owned by James Fredrick Sullivan who wrote his name in the cover in both ink and pencil. Sullivan also noted that he was 15 years old in 1941 |
