Description : The artifact consists of a metal frame around a glass enclosure. The frame consists of a round base and top and supports running along the sides. There are also wire supports around the glass enclosure and a semi-circular handle attached to the lid. There is a slit in the base inside the eggplant-shaped enclosure.
Commentaires : This type of lamp is known as a "wick" lamp; a variation of a kerosene lamp. These types of lamps are the most simple kerosene lamps to use. The base is filled with kerosene and a wick is inserted into the slit before being enclosed in the glass chimney. The wick absorbs the kerosene and gives of a bright, white-yellow flame.
