Description : A brown, oval-shape "flat iron" with a wooden handle and an iron stand that was used as a household item for ironing clothes. The bottom of the iron block is smooth and forms the ironing surface while the top has the manufacturer Jas. Smart MFG. Co. Ltd. Brockville, ON cast on it. It also has a depression in the center and two raised rails. The rails keep the handle from moving left or right while a bolt is screwed into the depression to attach the handle to the block. The round handle is made of wood, light brown in color and attached to a flat iron bar. The bar has an oval slot through which a screw is placed to attach the handle to the iron block. The screw is designed to be removed so that the handle can be attached to other iron blocks when the one in use cooled.
