Description : | Olive green lustre glass vase; body 13 cm high, 25 cm circumference at shoulder, tapering to 13 cm at base. Neck, 10 cm in circumference as it rises from shoulder, flares gently outward along its 6.5 cm length, ending at a straight cut rim. Body moulded in 4 lobes. Flat circular base. |
Fonctions : | Runciman house artifact; house built in 1817 by Rev. John Millidge. George Runciman took possession in early 1840s. In 1978 the property transferred to Heritage Canada. Sold to private owner in 2009, at which point many artifacts from the house were given to AHS by Heritage Canada. Loetz - premier Bohemian art glass manufacturer during Art Nouveau period. Many pieces almost glowed due to iridescent sheen that resulied from firing and reduction techniques that were used. Loetz was awarded a grand prize at the Paris world exhibition in 1900 for its contributions to the glass industry. |
