| Narrative: | Image depicts the MacDonald family in front of their home at 12 East Main Street, Antigonish. The photo was taken in the fall of 1917 and shows Mary V MacDonald (Mrs. Alfred) holding her son Alfred, age 7 months and standing in front, her son Finlay, age 3 1/2 and daughter Norah E age 4 1/2. Alfred Sr MacDonald, native of Glassburn, Antigonish Co had gone overseas in October or November of 1916 to serve in the Great War and his wife Mary had the photo taken to send to him at Christmastime. . Alfred MacDonald Sr enlisted Mar 23 1916 with the 193rd Battalion; Regimental # 902002 date of birth listed on attestation as April 14 1885; death record states birth as May 6 1883 Alfred MacDonald Sr died age 61 April 6 1945 Dutch Village Rd, Halifax |
