Description : The body of the violon is dark brown in color.  The neck and fingerboard, as well as tailpiece and chinrest are black.
Fonctions : This violon was handmade by James "Jim" Odo in 1957 and still played by him until circa 1971-72, at the ripe old age of 86 or 87 years old. It is one of many violons that Mr. Odo crafted in his lifetime. He was a self-taught violon player, signing himself up for classical lessons that he had read about in a local newspaper, while still a young man living at Cap-Rouge.  Jim gifted his newborn grandson, Joseph Lubin better knowned as Loubie Desveaux, with the violon in 1957.   Loubie never learned to play and the violon was returned to its owner.  In time it became the property of Loubie's parents, Joseph à Lubin à Mébisse and Marie-Agnès Odo.  In 2014, Joseph Desveaux, Loubie's father, became a resident of Le Foyer Père Fiset in Chéticamp.  It is at this time that his daughter Jeannette Desveaux Snow, and her brother Loubie, former owner of the violon, donated the violon to La Société Saint-Pierre, thus granting their father one of his last requests.
