Commentaires : | This family hair wreath is from the Hooper Estate in Framboise. Hair art was a popular art form starting in the 1400s and remaining through the 1800s, both in Europe and in North America. A family member would often collect hair from many generations of family members, which could then be used to create a hair wreath. It was also common place for friends to trade hair with each other, and make hair wreathsas mementos of their friendship. This form of art is most commonly associated with memorials as wreaths were commonly made from the hair of deceased family members', which was collected after death. |
