Description : | Enfield Pattern 1853 Rifle Musket. Manufacturer name and date stamp: "Enfield 1867". There are other stamps and marks. Condition is good. Firearms Officer and local RCMP state that this is no longer classified as a gun.The Pattern 1853 Enfield is a single-shot, muzzle-loading, percussion firearm with a rifled bore. The rifling imparted spin to the shot so it was more accurate than earlier muskets. |

Designed in 1853, it was in production 1853-1867 and in service 1853-1889 throughout the British Empire Wars as well as in use by both armies in the American Civil War (1861-1865) The rifling imparted spin to the shot so it was more accurate than earlier muskets. |
