It would later become the 94th Victoria Regiment "Argyll Highlanders" and then after the First World War, The Cape Breton Highlanders. In 1932, the Highlanders were granted permission to adopt the uniform of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. In 1939 the Highlanders were stationed as guards of industrial areas in Cape Breton, before being transferred to Borden Ontario to provide infantry support battalion for the 5th Canadian Armored Division in 1941. Later that year they were sent to England for training, and in 1943 relieved the West Nova Scotia Regiment in Italy. The Highlanders fought in several decisive battles, including the taking of Coriano Ridge. In 1945 they were transferred to France and embarked for Nijmegen, Holland with the 1st Canadian Army. On April 27-28 1945 the Highlanders took the port of Delfzijl, Holland capturing 1700 prisoners.
