Description : | Old Barn, Local Nova Scotia scene photographed by Gordon McGowan. |
Commentaires : | [From A.I.F. Folder] Gordon McGown developed an interest in photography at an early age in his native England. Originally this interest was in a monochrome medium, but since coming to Canada in 1957 he has become completely involved with colour photography. Mr. McGowan is a member of the Colour Photographic Guild of the Maritimes, and has won numerous awards in both Regional and International competitions. These include the Reid Sweet Cup for the best "pictorial" photograph submitted for annual competition (won on two occasions), and the Camera Shop of the Maritimes Cup for the best "nature" colour transparency, also competed for annually. He has twice been awarded the plaque presented each year for the best "human interest" picture. During 1971 Gordon McGowna's photographic art was the subject of two television programs broadcast by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation as part of its series "A Way Out". Mr. McGowan specializes in Camera - Travel Sets and Photo-Essays, using the two-projector system with image-blender, together with synchronized tape - recorder for the provision of commentary and/or music. His original colour prints of Nova Scotian land and seascapes have also received wide acclaim. |
