Commentaires : | [ From A.I.F. Folder] St. Mary's, Auburn. Anglican 1790. St. Marys has been called the "Mussel-shell" church. The plaster used was made from discarded mussel shells left on the Morden beach by the French Settlers. The nails, hand wrought, were carried by Soldiers on foot from Halifax nearly one hundred miles. Each man carried fifteen pounds. The windows were brought on horseback. The organ is one hundred and fifteen years old (c. 1977). It was bought in Boston and is still in use. |
