| Description : | This Bible is bound in hard leather and cardboard. This bible begins with the story of Moses and Genesis. The leather spine is held onto the book through string attached to the front and back cover. Inside the book is a certificate for John West from 1861-1862 from the Christian messenger office on Granville Street in Halifax for book depository and general printing establishment it appears to be a subscription for the Christian Messenger which ran from Dec 27, 1861 to December 21, 1862. On the front cover there appears to be a square cut out of the center of the leather cover, possibly to remove a label or name? |

| Fonctions : | According to a note written in graphite on the front cover it belonged and was donated by the great granddaughter of L (?), Laird or Leonard Dodge? According to the same note the Bible was carried in the army by John West the owner. |
