Commentaires : | This radio was originally owned by J. Alvin West, of Napean Street, Port Hawkesbury. It was purchased just before the outbreak of World War ll, in September of 1939. The radio had AM and Shortwave bands. War news could be picked up from London, England, and Mr. West spent many hours throughout the war listening to the shortwave war newscasts. The radio license was required at a cost of $2.50 per year. If you did not have a license, you were fined by a Department of Transport License inspector. This act was later repealed. Radio donated and information provided the donor , son of J. Alvin West - October 15, 1993. License #E 1034549 |
