| Description : | July 26/16 Dear Father, Received your letters once I got over here also 1 pr socks & 2 pckg's cigarette's from Mother which certainly came in good in every way. Would like to be able to get a bath or change of underclothes and I would not care for anything. The Allies are gradually keeping up their good work & wearing the enemy down & hope it will be soon when they can make them retreat into their own country. Have seen a number of the 36th draft boys for they are all scattered around in different batteries. Have seen a few sights since I came across & except to see more before long but we are not allowed to give out any information which might help our enemies so mum is the word. Suppose things are about the same in Nova Scotia & with the Old [?] Storage plant working must help business a great deal. One thing we are having good weather. Saw Dr, Don [?]) McLeod he is attached to some French Hospital. The Russians are still taking prisoners but it takes time for there are so many men on both sides. Suppose that Miss Sutherland is becoming a first class salesman & I hope she will be a lot better than I was at the business & hope you are all doing well. If I am lucky enough to get back will never be much good at indoor business after this or any other kind & will only have guns & horses to talk about. Heard Billie [?] Fraser [?] from Mulgrave is home again well he is some lucky boy. Suppose it will not be long before the N. S. Highland Brigade will be coming across for the sooner the better. Hope all are well. Lieut. J. Rankin & Srgt [?] Angus Gillis [?] are in this country & hope I will be able to illegible illegible them soon. All the boys are well.
