Bertram Bourinot, Editor & Proprietor Letter: Arichat, C.B. Dec 19/17 Dear Jack,- I see that Johnnie is home. I am very glad to know it and it must be a great treat to have him with you once more. Send him down to stop with u [?] us af [?] ew [?] days. Well, the elections are over. Union Govt. will have a short career. The balance of power is in the hands of the Liberal-Unionists and they have it in their power to wreck the government whenever they feel that it would be in the public interest to do so. What do you think of Richmond now? Was it not a smashing victory for Kyte and Carroll? Inverness also did things up brown. Gallant should by now be very well seasoned and cooked and this experience should far [sic] all time settle him as a candiaate [sic] in Inverness. It was not hard to see where the Record's sympathies went in this election. To hear some of the grumblings of some of the cackling Tories hereabout they, too, feel that the Record was no help to their side and they are vowing vengeance. Fiott is looking for his mortgage to be paid and I would like to know if you could take it over. It is good security for a $695.00 mortgage. I would like you to take it over if you can. If you cannot I will try and sell out to the highest bidder and make my home elsewhere. This will be a sad Christmas to us. Dear Marion is never absent form our thoughts.
