| Description: | The back of photo reads " looking south, south end of lock from mining plant quarry in background ".This photograph was taken during the construction of the Canso Causeway Canal. Porcupine Mountain can be seen on the right side of the photograph and Cape Breton can be seen on the left side. Balache Point Lighthouse can be seen on the right side of the photograph. Cofferdams can be seen on the left side of the construction site. A crane can be seen inside the Canal walls. There is a crane towing a piece of material on the left side of the photo. Large gravel piles can be seen throughout the construction site along with different materials. |
