| Description: | Side A: A copied type-written letter to the Hounorable E.H. Armstrong from J.C Bourinot, sent on the 27 of September, 1917, discussing the settlement of a claim brought forth by a Mr. Archibald. Bourniot aims to settle Mr. Archibalds claim with a five hundred dollar check and is requesting Mr. Amstrong forward said check to Mr. Archibald at his earliest convience. Side A Reads as follows: Port Hawkesbury, N. S. Sept. 27th, 1917 Hon. E. H. Armstrong, Commissioner of Works and Mines, Halifax, N. S. Dear Mr. Armstrong Regret you were not in the City recently when I called at your office, principally for the purpose of interviewing you in behalf of Mr. H. A. Archibald, in connection with his claim, however, I discussed the matter with Mr. Donkin, informing him that I was under the impression that Mr. Archibald could be persuaded to accept $500 in settlement of his claim, and I appeal to you to kindly have a check forwarded to Mr. Archibald at your earliest convenience, as he is in urgent and immediate need of the money to assist him in liquidating the mortgage on his property. With kind regards, Yours Sincerely, Side B: A letter written to J.C Bourinot from H.A. Archibald, sent on the 26th of September, 1917. The letter is informing Bourinot that Archilbald is yet to hear back from a Mr. Armstrong and is requesting Archibald to write to Armstrong again. Side B reads as follows: Port Hasting, C. B. Sept. 26, 1917 Mr. John C. Bourinot Port Hawkesbury N.S. Dear Sir, We have had no word from Mr. Armstrong but now that the exhibition is over, he may have time to attend to other business.
