A letter from Alec H. MacInnis to J.C. Bourinot, dated November 15, 1917, requests financial support for road maintenance work he and his brothers have done, mentioning a previous arrangement with James MacDonald and seeking similar permission and payment from Bourinot. Transcription: Glendale C.B. Nov. 15th/17 Mr. J.C.Bourinot, Dear Sir:- I have pierced[?] two slices[?] and a piece of drain on the road: (From MacArther Road to Mountain Road). It was so very bad, that there was hardly no way of getting through it. There are three of u on the Road my two brothers (John & Duncan) and I. James MacDonald never left me one illegible without giving me money on the road, an I (Page 2) feel pretty sure, that you will do the same, this is the first time I asked you for the permission I used to get from him too, My brother Hughie, got some on the Mountain Road, o if you please I want you to give me permission to get it, so that the same pay Roll will do for both of us =. There is not much anyway just about $8 or $9. You wont lose by giving it. Yours truly Alec H. MacInnis
