Oct 11/17 Dear Jack I am glad to see that illegible(1) acted promptly about these bad bridges, one of them is in dangerous condition Esq in illegible was to see them and he will likely have do the work next week, Hugh S MacLean of River Dennis was to see me in refrence to an expendicture he made last fall he made illegible the pay well and rated the men at 1.75 per day, The pay will come to M.D. McLeod[?] and the men refused to accept the amount as the road inspector cut down their pay to 1.50 per day. If he did this, and McLean assures me he did, it was a mistake from every stand point. I told McLean I would bring te matter (Page 2) before you and if this was done I feel sure you would see that justice was done, They cannot get men to work now for 1.50 and it is unreasonable to expect them, If you are writing Mr illegible(1) you might also refer to an expenditure made in the district of Malgawatch in 1916 by john A Campbell for which they have not been paid, I told Campbell that I would let you know about it and that you would get after them, Too bad about Percy Boutiler was sorry I could not get to his funeral, with kind regards, Yours Sincerely Dan
