Description: I this letter, J.C. Bourinot writes to R.A. MacDonald, urging him to use his influence with Hon. A.K. MacLean to appoint William Claughn to succeed his father, and mentions having already made similar appeals to other influential figures. Transcription (2 Pages): *light pencil mark top right corner* confidential Port Hawkesbury, N.S. December 27[?]th, 1917 R. A[?]. MacDonald, Esq., Port Hastings, C.B,  Dear Mr. MacDonald:-  I have written Hon. G[?] Dr. illegible making a strong appeal illegible to use his influence with Hon. A.K. MacLean[?] to have William Claughn appointed as once to succeed his father. as illegible has illegible done away with and all appointments are to the illegible and vacancies filled according to illegible, there certainly should be no hesitation in appointing a friend[?] illegible. I have also written Dr. Chisholm to the same effect. would suggest that you also write Mr illegible and the illegible illegible illegible will for Henry[?] Forbes to write the son of the late Governor[?] David McLean[?] to use his influence with Hon. A.K. McLean. By something of a fight under such  (Page 2)  conditions as exist at present is a freighting chance to win  Yours sincerely,  J.C. Bourinot
