| Description : | Pictured is a group of primarily young boys in front of Port Hoods second Court House during July 1, 1927 celebrations. A group of men can be seen standing at the entrance of the Court House. Most of the young boys are holding small Union Jack flags. Just the edges of decorative ribbon can be seen at the entrance of the Court House. This is a copy of an original photograph. |
| Commentaires : | July 1, 1927 marked the sixtieth anniversary of Confederation. It was a big celebration because Canada was at war during the 50th anniversary in 1917. The second Port Hood Court House was built in1874. On December 5, 1935 it was destroyed by fire. It was replaced by the current Court House which officially opened in January of 1937. The photo has been dated as July 1, 1927 because item CMP-00-127 has been identified as being taken on that date. In this photo the Court House appears to have the same decorative ribbon as item CMP-00-127. Also, the children in this photo are holding the same small Union Jack flags as the children in photo CMP-00-127. |
