| Description : | Pictured is a side view of St. Stephens United Church. It is the side you would see if approaching from the North End. |
| Commentaires : | The Methodists in Port Hood erected St. Stephens Church in 1886 during the pastorate of Rev. Robert Stevens. With the union of the Methodists, Congregationalists and some of the Presbyterians in 1925, the church became St. Stephens United Church (part of the United Church of Canada). This photo was taken pre 1949. In 1949 the decision was made to shorten the steeple because there was no one willing to maintain it due to its height. Herbert Watts and Charlie MacNeil (he was married to John Donald Timmons sister - they lived in Allan MacInniss house) did the work. The cost of materials was $350. |
