| Description : | Pictured is a view of Port Hood taken from about the area where the home formerly owned by Glenda Campbell is located. In the center of the photo you can see D.F. MacLeans house and the building that became the Oceanside Hotel. It is a winter scene as snow is on the ground. To the left you the steeple of St. Stephens church is visible. |
| Commentaires : | The McKinley Hotel is mentioned in The Unpublished History of Port Hood: On the property of Alexander McDonald (Sandy Ranald), south of his driveway, another large hotel was erected which was called the McKinley Hotel. This building was built on behalf of one John A. McDonald who was married to a sister of the late Angus Whittie of South West Mabou. Mr McDonald came here from Boston in the boom days and, at first, conducted a restaurant and clothing business in the store at the Corner, next north of Dan Colin McDonalds present store (which was destroyed in the fire of 1942). |
| Fonctions : | The postcard was written by a Florence MacLellan in Port Hood on July 31, 1907. She wrote the card to Miss Jessie Cameron, Tannery St. Cambridge, Mass. The message reads: Dear Jessie, Reced your postal quite a while ago, was more than pleased to get it. How do you like this view of our city! I would like to hear from you again. The postmark is: Port Hood August 2, 1907 |
