| Description : | Pictured is the deteriorating Bankhead at Seaside Mine. An older man and a young girl are walking toward the entrance. The man in the plaid shirt is Dan P. MacDonald of Harbourview - an uncle to the donor. The young girl is an unknown tourist. This is a copy of an original photo. The original is ca. 1960. |
| Commentaires : | The photograph shows the bankhead of the last coal mine which operated in Port Hood. This mine was under the management of John Alex Shorty Campbell, Owen Hartigan and a David G. Burchell. Due to labour issues and costly production, the Sherriff of Inverness County, Colin S. MacDonald, seized all the equipment and closed the mine in January 1967. |
