| Description : | Portrait of Father Donald MacPherson. He is dressed in his army uniform and is wearing of helmet. His priest's collar is visible. Fr. MacPherson is standing and his hand is resting on his belt. The picture is in a dark wooden, oval shaped frame. The top of the frame is the shape of a bow with a carved rose and leaf design at the base of the bow. The glass curves outwards. |
| Commentaires : | Father MacPherson was born in Shunacadie, Cape Breton County on October 3, 1872. He was ordained in Quebec City in 1901. During WWI he served as an army chaplain. He came to Port Hood after his discharge in 1919, and served as parish priest until 1957 when the bishop sent him to New Glasgow for his retirement. He died there August 1, 1959 and is buried in St. Peters Parish Cemetery, Port Hood. |
