| Description: | Photograph of Port Hood Academy during Port Hoods celebration of the 60th anniversary of Confederation in 1927. | Narrative: | July 1, 1927 marked the sixtieth anniversary of Confederation. It was a big celebration because Canada was at war during the 50th anniversary in 1917. This is the second Port Hood Academy - opened in 1911. It replaced the original Academy which was too small to serve the community any longer. Port Hood Academy burned to the ground on May 12, 1961. It was replaced by Port Hood Consolidated School. |
