| Description : | Photograph of Port Hood Academy during Port Hoods celebration of the 60th anniversary of Confederation in 1927. A float drawn by horses and a decorated automobile are in front of the Academy. There is a pony cart in the lane leading into the Academy. A man is standing at the left of the entrance to the lane and a young boy and girl are standing at the right entrance. People are standing to the left of the Academy. Just the edge of St. Stephens church is visible on the left. Pennants are strung up along the street. |
| Commentaires : | July 1, 1927 marked the sixtieth anniversary of Confederation. It was a big celebration because Canada was at war during the 50th anniversary in 1917. This is the second Port Hood Academy - opened in 1911. It replaced the original Academy which was too small to serve the community any longer. Port Hood Academy burned to the ground on May 12, 1961. It was replaced by Port Hood Consolidated School. |
