| Narrative: | Father Donald MacPherson was born in Shunacadie, Cape Breton County on October 3, 1872. He was ordained in Quebec City in 1901. During WWI he served as an army chaplain. He came to Port Hood in 1919, and served as parish priest until 1957 when the bishop sent him to New Glasgow for his retirement. In 1957 he was made a Domestic Prelate by Pope Pius XII. He died August 1, 1959 and is buried in St. Peters Parish Cemetery, Port Hood. |
