| Narrative: | The road through Port Hood was paved in the early 1950s. John Donald MacDougall's store was built by his father, Rory, and was used as a livery stable. After the fire of 1942, John Donald had the building moved from by the family home to the Corner. He then had it remodeled to use as a store. The building was later operated as Ians Corner Store by Ian Batherson. The building was demolished December 21, 2007. Joseph Lee Hart came to Port Hood about 1875. He built a store and home at the Corner. The store burned in the fire of 1942. The house burned in 1985. |
