| Description : | Photograph of the corner in Port Hood during a WWII Victory Loan parade. There are a number of people parading in the street. A Union Jack flag flies from the flag pole. The big building on the right is the Oddfellows Hall/Post Office. On the left the edge of the Royal Bank is visible. The photograph is laminated. This is a copy of an original image from between 1940 and 1942. |
| Commentaires : | During WWII Victory Loans were used by the Canadian government to raise funds for the war. Citizens and businesses purchased bonds which became the precursor to Canada Savings Bonds. There were two War Loan drives in 1940 and they were followed by nine Victory Loan drives between June 1941 and October 1945. The Oddfellows Hall and the Royal Bank were destroyed by the fire of July 2, 1942. |
