| Description : | A photograph of John Hart (seated in the chair) surrounded by his family and some friends. They are posed on the verandah of the Hart home. This is when the house was still located at the corner as Port Hood Island is visible on the right. There is snow on the ground but no one seems to be dressed especially warmly. | Commentaires : | In 1910, John Hart built this house behind his fathers store at the Corner. The house was built by Joe and Nehemiah Watts. John Hart started a fox farm at the house but the foxes were agitated by the noise in town. John Hart therefore decided to move the house to the outskirts of Port Hood. This was done in January and February of 1929. John and Margaret Harts children were Ulva, Lee, Lewis and Lorne. Ulva died of tuberculosis on October 20, 1929. Lee Johnson was John Harts nephew a son of his sister Gertrude. Thelma Cameron was the daughter of Alexander T. Cameron and Hazel Tremain Irving and Edith MacLean were the children of D.F. MacLeans son Sydney. There was likely another one of these children who bore the nickname Toddy. Art Lytle was an American friend of the Harts. He bought the last boat built by Fred and Alfred Reynolds. |
