| Narrative: | John Smith Hart (1875-1964) was born in Port Hood. His father, Joseph Lee Hart was from Guysborough and his mother, Mary Jane Fraser was from Port Hood. Like his father, John was a merchant. Margaret Ann Smith (1884-1969) was born in Smithville to Lewis Lambert Smith and Flora MacDonald. Margaret was a great-great-granddaughter of Captain David Smith. John and Margaret married in Smithville on June 29, 1905. A large collection of artifacts was obtained from their estate in 1978 and became the foundation of the Chestico Museum. The chair upon which Mrs. Hart is seated is part of the museum collection. |
