| Description: | Photograph of the business section of Port Hood before it was destroyed by the fire of 1942. At the left, beginning in the foreground, are Rory MacDougalls store, Angus MacDonalds store and just visible is the vacant store of Hugh MacIsaac. At centre in the background is the vacant store and home of Angus MacDonnell. To the left of this building you can just see the turret of D.F. MacLeans home. To the right is the Royal Bank Building. Just next to the bank, and only just visible is the store owned by D.F. MacLean. On the left of the postcard is the Post Office and Oddfellows Hall Building. There are three automobiles in the street and one person crossing the road. This is a copy of an original photo. |
| Narrative: | On July 2, 1942 fire destroyed the business section of Port Hood including the buildings in his photo. |
| History of Use: | The donor was the grandson of David William Jones (1872-1949) who operated a print shop in Port Hood. He would sometimes make postcards out of photographs. The original photo this print is made from belonged to D.W. Jones. It passed on to his son and then to his grandson who made this copy for the Chestico Museum. |
