The oldest son, Alexander is seated, beside him is John MacKay and then the daughter, Jane Frances. This is a copy of an original photo ca. 1908. |
| Commentaires : | Sir Donald Cameron (D.C.) MacDonald (1872-1948) was married to Mary Jane MacKay (1877-1957). Sir D.C. was a lawyer and treasurer for the County of Inverness. In 1911 he was appointed Inspector of Customs for Eastern Nova Scotia. On May 5, 1928 Sir D.C. was constituted a Knight of St. Gregory the Great by His Holiness Pope Pius XI in recognition of his service to the faith. Alexander (DC) MacDonald (1903-1958) was a lawyer who served in WWII. He married an English war bride, Lillian Philllips, while overseas. Following the war he practiced law in Port Hood. His law office was located at the corner, across from the Post Office. It was later moved to the lot across from the Co-op and became the Credit Union building. Alex was tragically killed in a car/train accident in Point Tupper, along with Donald A. Beaton of Hawthorne. Jane Frances MacDonald (1904 -1988) was the only daughter of Sir DC MacDonald and Mary Jane MacKay. She joined the Sisters of the Congregation of Note Dame of Montreal in 1926 and taught for a number of years. Her name in religious life was Sister Saint Augustine of Jesus. John MacKay MacDonald (1906-1977) served in WWII. After the war he worked as a chemical engineer and inspector or munitions in Texarkana, Texas. Angus James MacDonald (1908 - 1991) was a physician and surgeon in Ontario. |
