| Description : | Framed official document of registration with the Registry of Joint Stocks for Station No. 29 Fishermens Federation of Nova Scotia. The frame is of brown wood - the ends extend on the corners. There is a nail in the centre of the left and right sides with a string attached for hanging. The text on the document reads: Province of Nova Scotia No. 29 A hereby certify that Station No. 29 Fishermens Federation of Nova Scotia is this day Incorporated under Chapter 9 of the Acts of 1927 entitled An Act to provide for the Organization of the Fishermens Federation of Nova Scotia. Given under my hand and seal of office at the City of Halifax, in the Province of Nova Scotia, this Twelfth day of March One thousand nine hundred and Twenty-nine. Arthur S. | Commentaires : | The Fishermens Federation of Nova Scotia was a union of Nova Scotia fishermen dedicated to improving conditions for its members. No. 29 would have been the local branch. Since the document was on Port Hood Island, the branch was likely composed of Island fishermen. |
| Fonctions : | The document hung on the wall of the Community Hall on Port Hood Island. The Hall was originally the Islands first church serving as such from 1867 until the opening of Jubilee Church in 1904. The document was on the wall of the Hall until it was sold in the early 2000s. The donor had the document in their possession until it was donated to the Chestico Museum in 2015. |
