| Description: | Photograph from a First Communion celebration in Port Hood. Eight girls with veils and holding flowers are gathered around a Sister dressed in a habit. The location appears to be the steps of St. Peters Convent. This is a copy of an original photo from the 1940s. The girls are Teresa Williams, Sadie Hawley, Rita MacDonald, Dorothy MacDonell, Betty Clarke, Cecilia MacDonald, Bernice Wood, Teresa Timmons and M.C. MacDonald. It is believed that the nun is Sr. St. Walburga. |
| Narrative: | Betty Clarke was a foster child of John Alex The Big Fiddler. She grew up in a house that once stood about where Toodie MacPhees house is now. It is thought that the Sister is Sr. St. Walburga. She was Jessie Catherine Campbell - daughter of Euphemia "Effie" (Beaton) and Colin John Campbell of Margaree Forks. These were the same Campbells as the South West Campbells. |
