| Narrative: | Bert Tremain Smith (1887-1975) was born on Port Hood Island to Maria Albina (Watts) and Amos T. Smith. Bert worked as a farmer and fisherman. He married Myrtle Watts on September 29, 1914. The couple resided on Port Hood Island where they raised five children. Bert was an Elder with the United Church of Canada and a member of the Independent Order of Oddfellows. |
| History of Use: | This was a family portrait. The donor recalled Myrtle (Watts) Smith telling her the portrait was done on the occasion of Bert's engagement. |
