| Commentaires : | Between the years of 1897 and 1923 Nova Scotia's Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Alexander MacKay sent a four-page questionnaire to teachers annually with questions pertaining to plants, animals, weather and agriculture to be answered from the students' observations. MacKay's database is used today by the Irving Centre at Acadia University where current information is collected annually. This plant press was owned by Stella Mable Higgins who attended the Provincial Normal College in Truro, 1912-1913. She taught at Hemlock Grove School and at Canso School. Higgins passed away January 3rd, 1919 a victim of the global flu epidemic. The history of the artefact was provided by the donor, the nephew of Stella Higgins. |
