Commentaires : | Open salt dishes were made in the 18th century. The best examples come from the years 1827 to 1850. The earliest salt dishes were simple and were rectangular and footed. Later designs were of cut diamonds, fans, stars etc. Glass colors varied from blue, green, purple citron and yellow but most commonly were clear. Salt shakers were not invented until the development of salt fine enough to pour through the holes. |
