Description : | Coffee pot & burner; copper, tin, wood, brass, glass; clear glass top is contoured meets copper lid, lifts up, tin inside where water boiled and coffee grinds went; body is copper with "UNIVERSAL " stamped small, set of three continuous lines at top and bottom, copper handles with wooden rectangular blocks painted black; raises above burner curves outward, has continuous slits around for decorations; brass top to control flow out of pot; body attached to three legs by two small brass nails each leg; brass & copper alcohol burner held on base attached to the three legs; burner has brass sterno with copper valves. |
Commentaires : | Coffee pot is in an art deco style. Was made by Landers, Fray & Clark who became the "Universal " trademark in 1890. For more then a century this company made household products until they were acquired by General Electric Companies house wares division. The coffee percolator was first produced in 1905 and became its third most popular invention. |
