Description : Communion cup(s); metal, pewter; two large cups or chalices; hollow base; highly adorned, scalloped edge, raised scrolls and dots; stems are spindle shaped; bulbous shaped cup bowl with vertical indentations; rolled upper rim; mark on base reverse stamped "H
Commentaires : These two communion cups were used in the Catholic Church for Holy Communion. Holy Communion is the reception of the Blessed Sacrament (the Eucharist) that has been confected by a priest during the Holy Mass. Because Communion is also a sign of Christian unity, those who receive are declaring to the world that they accept all the dogmas of the Church.
