Commentaires : | This Acadian chair was used before the turn of the 20th century. Acadian furniture was commonly made of pine; it was easily workable and abundant in areas inhabited by the Acadians. After the deportation furniture was only the basics, it was not until the middle of the 19th century that comfort items such as chairs were crafted with more regularity. Furniture was made with the same tools and techniques used in building the houses and barns that the Acadian family had built. Furniture styles remained simplistic in design and decoration. |
